The California Coalition for Rural Housing (CCRH) is proud to announce its 24th Annual Rural West Internship Program for Diversity in Nonprofit Housing and Community Development. The CCRH Internship Program is a one-year paid Internship designed to recruit, train, and retain housing development professionals who enhance inclusion and racial equity within the Affordable Housing Development field. Selected interns are placed with CCRH member and partner organizations in CA, OR and WA state through the internship program. CCRH member and partner nonprofit organizations have responded to the need for affordable housing by building, maintaining and rehabilitating affordable housing complexes in the rural West since the 1960s.
For over 20 years, this Internship Program has bridged college students from historically underrepresented rural, farm worker, immigrant, Native American and low-income communities to rewarding careers in the affordable housing and community development field.
Interns learn the following leadership and technical skills that can help in their personal lives and prepare them to jumpstart a career in affordable housing:
- Assist with the financial applications and loan closings for housing developments;
- Coordinate meetings, activities, and operations related projects with property management, development and resident services;
- Oversee project transition from construction completion to lease-up and operations;
- Review financial budget for project milestones and projections.
PAY RATE: The pay range is from $15.00-$16.00 per hour, depending on geographic location.

We are looking for a student who is qualified and interested in the data entry side of the project (RFI, Change Order, Plan Change logging and tracking). The project is 25 resort homes in Northern California ranging from $3 to $5 million per home. Most of the homes are fairly identical so there is not a significant amount of complexity. The student will get the benefit of working in a small GC setting and pace with learning opportunities from top tier GC lessons learned. The student will also be exposed and expected to operate construction management software and tools both basic and cutting edge. Pay will be $15/hr and a minimum of 20 hours a week is expected, however more will be available at the owners discretion. Work will be done 90% from home and we will meet from time to time in the Downtown San Diego area. There will be opportunities to travel to the jobsite in Healdsburg, CA at the owners expense. The prospective student will be paid on 1099 so they will have to file their own quarterly taxes and pay federal and state funds independently. This position could develop into a full time and very lucrative opportunity. I am also willing to leverage my contacts at any of the 100’s of contractors I have relationships with for placement in the future.
